Over the last 10 days we’ve shared stories from LGBTQ+ members of our beLOVEd community as we celebrate Pride Month. Today we’re wrapping up the month and this series sharing Char Lee’s story.
Growing up in a very insular and segregated community didn’t allow for a lot of individual expression of any kind. It took a lot of time on this planet to be comfortable and stand in my authenticity fully. I am just now living what feels right and beautiful and me. I have never been a live out loud girl. I was expert at blending in and slinking into the crowd. I took Foundations last winter and things began to change. Coming out to an entire class of who, at that point were strangers, was new and strange and scary. Bodhi has encouraged me to live a liberated life not only for me but for my community. Show and Prove is now my personal mission statement. What I love most about the Bodhi community is they are always holding me high! No matter the circumstances they always remind me that the Universe has got my back.– Char Lee
