New Series For October: “The Soul Of Money”

Watch as Rev. Lola introduces our new series for August, “The Soul of Money,” inspired by the book of the same title by Lynne Twist.

From Rev. Lola on this new series:

Scarcity is pervasive. Not enough is a refrain for most of us. Not enough time. Not enough sleep. Not enough exercise Not enough help. Not enough days off. And definitely not enough money. Our culture is constantly reinforcing scarcity.

Our culture is constantly reinforcing scarcity.

In her book The Soul of Money, Lynne Twist articulates three toxic myths that perpetuate this mindset of scarcity:

  • There’s not enough.
  • More is better.
  • That’s just the way it is.

Almost everyone is swimming in scarcity, regardless of economic circumstances, but if we lift our heads out of this toxic sea of unexamined false beliefs, “we discover the surprising truth of sufficiency … that there is enough, and that we are enough. Sufficiency resides inside each of us, and we can call it forward.”

Sufficiency resides inside each of us, and we can call it forward.

When we stop looking through the lens of not enough, we can awaken to the ever-present Good that surrounds us, and begin to participate with the Infinite flow of Life that is always moving in, around, and through us.

And when we recognize money as an aspect of this flow, “we can return to the soul of money: money as a carrier of our intentions, money as energy, and money as a currency for love, commitment, and service; money as an opportunity to nourish those things we care most about.”
