This weekend, Rainbow Weldon continued our Holy Disruptor series with the message, “Get in the Mirror.”
Opening:
Conversation with Lola revealed “nice girl” persona
SLIDE:
Nice- pleasant; agreeable; satisfactory.
Kind- having or showing a friendly, generous, and considerate nature.
“Love is patient, Love is kind.”- 1 Corinthians 13:4
Be kind AND stand for up for what you believe
Being agreeable- how the world got to be the way it is
The work of the holy disruptor is to kindly say, TIMES UP!
“Get in the mirror, then get in a movement.”- Bishop Yvette
Spoke- momentum, Bodhi is the hub
Objectives:
- In order to create a world that works for everyone, we must begin within
- Revealing and disrupting complaints provides a path to transformation
- Silence and stillness in service to the Sacred is a powerful disruptor. (and it doesn’t mean we don’t speak out and take action)
Keywords/Stories/Points:
Roots, provided a great playground for self-discovery
SLIDE
Complaining and whining are only exhibitions of great deserts spots in our character. You must fill up deserts with rain and fertilizer. So you must transform your moments of complaining by praise and descriptions of the Good in the Universe. The desert has not had rain enough, so you have not charity and mercy enough, if you feel like complaining. If things in your past have made you feel sad and hard, you must say the good they have done you makes you thankful. Give great thanks.
-Emma Curtis Hopkins
Charity- kindness and tolerance in judging others.
Mercy- compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.
“7-Day No Complain Campaign”
Complaint- enrolling others in our story and talking about it just for the sake of talking about it without taking action.
The impact- planting seeds in the collective
Energy the Ideal!
SLIDE
When you complain, you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation, or accept it. All else is madness. – Eckhart Tolle
Be clear- the invitation to practice not complain does not mean not speaking out and taking inspired action around the challenges in our world
- Leave the situation- fb group
- Change the situation- roommate- make request- being cause in the matter, me- parking spot
For years- pervasive “nice persona” I acknowledge this is a very 1st world problem
- Accept it- snow/ surrender, allow something greater
SLIDE
The very moment you
allow what happened
to strengthen you
– you win. – @LalahDelia
Everything is for our learning.
Everything is an opportunity for growth.
Conversation with Lola- could have been defensive
Instead breathed and stayed awake
I wanted to go back to sleep- too hard.
Turned that around in a minute.
Roots Student- old pattern in a few days instead of years
This work is powerful. It works if you work it. Get in the mirror!
This month’s theme- challenged me to get in the mirror
Holy Disruptor- Lola, Bishop Yvette, Gaylon
I made up that a holy disruptor is someone who is BIG and BOLD moves through the world calling things out and breaking up the status quo, which is ONE way
- SLIDE:
Holy – devotion to the service of God
Disruptor – a person who breaks apart the normal course
God – the indwelling presence; life force energy in back of all things; the unseen; the infinite
Syn- Consciousness, Universe, Spirit, Divine, Life, Sacred
Holy Disruptor – a person who breaks apart norms in service of the Sacred
Yes, I am that.
We must stop comparing ourselves to others
Lola and I – great team / yin + yang
All is needed! All is valid. You are needed. You are valued.
I Am that, I Am!
(turn to your somebody and say, I am that I am!)
What I discovered during 7-Day No Complain
SLIDE
Silence and stillness in service to the Sacred is a powerful disruptor.
By silence, I don’t mean “not speaking up”
I mean- silence an an act of passive resistance
Not colluding with fear/doubt/separation
Example: No complaining- silence + stillness can disrupts
Don’t react, don’t engage and the energy dissipates
SLIDE
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Ps. 46:10)
Know that there is a loving presence that is nearer than your breath that is ever giving of Itself to you.
Sacred Activism from a place of stillness is a holy disruption– not getting caught up in the energy of needing to save something or someone/ right vs. wrong AND it doesn’t mean there isn’t something for you to do
I am declaring that I am disrupting the norm:
in my grounded presence,
In my stillness,
In my non-reaction,
In my standing for Truth
We each have a unique way of expressing in this world.
loud voice in the room/ hold vigil/ hybrid
I march in order to disrupt the fear and bring injustices to light. I march in order bring the stillness into action.
Conclusion
What is your unique way of being a holy disruptor?
SLIDE:
“Within each of you is the song of Spirit. By thinking out that song within your minds, it will break forth over your affairs.”- Emma Curtis Hopkins
Contemplate, vision, ruminate. Sit in the silence and ask “what is mine to do? What is your spoke on the wheel?”
Try on a week of no complaining, see what you bump up against and get in the mirror and transform it! The world needs you! Together we create a world that works for everyone, one thought, one action, one deed at a time!
