On Sunday, at our new home in Vittum Theater, Rev. Gaylon McDowell joined us again for our current Rise Again series (culminating on Easter Sunday, March 27th) with his message, “From Setbacks To Comebacks.”

“The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure.” – John Maxwell

“Because in life, the question is not if you will have problems, but how you are going to deal with your problems.” – John Maxwell

“Your subconscious mind will constantly draw opportunities and challenges so that you may develop your spiritual gifts in which you feel weak.” – William Warch

the Rules of Being Human

Rule #1 – You will learn lessons.

Rule #2 – There are no mistakes – only lessons.

Rule #3 – A lesson is repeated until it is learned.

Rule #4 – If you don’t learn the easy lessons, they get harder. (Pain is one way the universe gets your attention.)

Rule #5 – You’ll know you’ve learned a lesson when your actions change.

Comeback – A return to a former good position or condition. A new effort to win or succeed after being close to defeat of failure.

1. Reevalute Your Process

2. Seek Divine Counsel – “Trust in the LORD will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

3. Create a Plan with Clarity and Conviction

4. Get into Inspired Action

5. Ask for help from people who can help you

In Luke 18:35-43 it reads:

As he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” Then he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who were in front sternly ordered him to be quiet; but he shouted even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stood still and ordered the man to be brought to him; and when he came near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me see again.” Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, praised God.[/toggle] [/toggles]
